Role overview

Product designer

My job was to design an experience for people navigating high stakes and emotional decisions. The product serves very different audiences, individual buyers, institutional investors, brokers, and owners. Sometimes that meant plain simplicity and other times it meant depth.

I worked on a small team of five as the sole designer, which gave me a lot of autonomy and responsibility. I worked closely with engineering and leadership to define structure early, especially where the problem wasn't "how should this look?" but "what should this even be?" (was a very common question, and usually the start of the best conversations)

If I'm actually doing my job right, the experience would guide people toward better decisions instead of overwhelming them with options. A lot of the work was about shaping how people think about what they're looking for.

I'm naturally a careful designer but this experience has taught me that when money and trust are involved, every interaction needs to be deliberate. I needed to focus on clarity, pacing, and restraint to make sure every flow is human and not salesy (even if it actually were)
